Silent Night

Oh, Silent One how I regret
I did not write this silhouette
Of nature in a different light
A picture of pure delight

Even though the night is dark
I do not fear the lone dog's bark
Twinkling stars, would not shine so bright
In the coming morning light

I do not mind when twilight fades
And humans' close their blinds and shades
For this is the animals time to play
It is their best time of day.

There is a warmth in inky skies
A cosy blanket until a new sunrise
That opens up a brand new day.
To give humanity time to play
