Silent Few

The Silent Few

I Often Think about Them...
Now that my youth is behind,
Of my friends that grew no older,
Their Youth...Frozen in Time.

Slowly They Come...Very Slowly,
Quietly Taking Their Time,
Slowly, Very Slowly,
Forming Pictures in My Mind.

I See Them Laugh and Joke
As They Go about Daily Living,
Not Worried Overly Much,
About the Life They Would Be Giving.

I See Them Light up a Smoke,
And Tell of a Few of Their Fears,
It Brings Back That Empty Feeling,
And I am near to Tears.

For the Ones that I served with.....
All Friends Tried and True
Here’s to those that Died in Vietnam
I salute.....Those Now Silent Few.

And I salute you too for bringing their memories from the silence. Well done

thank you for the compliment. I am still learning how to get around on this site, I have quite a few poems on the soldiers we send to war.
