Silencing the Witnesses

Together, facing the deathly moment alone

Their soles must be given to free their souls

Silent witnesses of man's inhumanity to man

Great sijo, Daniel. That second line is especially powerful and the image of the shoes as a testament to man's inhumanity is well conveyed. Outstanding entry for the contest. Wish you much success! Love, Carolyn

Excellent write in this one...I will have to look up this form for I don't think that I have tried it...You have expressed thoughts about death that are so true...Keep the creative pen flowing....I don't know if this was in response to the pictures on here or just in response to the Holocaust but this one captures it all....Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my work..Sara
