Silenced Nothing

Wrapped in velvet
But drenched in blood
I grew my shelter
From a single bud

Beaten skin covers the outer core
Of every shield
I've built against the world.

But I am still alone
In the walls of my own mind
Because I can't wrap myself around
The reasons of time.

I can't make myself believe
That I can step out of my body
I can't force myself
To leave behind memory.

Because I am a silenced nothing.
