Silence of the Snow

In the solitude of this snowy night, Where only the snow is the darkness' light, I find that sleep escapes me, And I seek the soothing taste of tea. With my tea I set on my window seat, Wrapped in a blanket for more heat, I curiously glance to see the new fallen snow, It has covered everything with a shimmering glow. Youthful memories come to mind, Throwing snowballs and making an uphill climb, Reaching the top, I lay on my sled, Sliding quickly on a path ice fed. I pass the house and go down the drive, Encountering a very, very lumpy ride, Rocks and stones pave the way, Giggles and laughs on my face stay. Quickly reaching the front of the house, Hitting the snowman, I get doused, Covered in snow and very cold, My sledding trips never get old. Continuing on I climb again, Laying on my sled with a big grin, My brothers and sisters are on theirs too, I fly by them all; snowballs ensue. Finally we come to a crashing stop, Piled up sleds, the biggest on top, Everyone is laughing, no one can stop, The climb now seems a mile to the top.
