Silence In the Dark
Hopeless in the womb
She waits to see the light
Hidden in the darkness
A victim of the night
At the moment of her birth
She can't see, speak or hear
She'll never know the meaning
Of words like hate, love or fear
Smell and touch, her only senses
The way she communicates
She doesn't know she's different
She just sits and contemplates
The only way to teach her
Is with endless repetition
Never knowing for sure
If you've got her full attention
Sometimes it's hard to determine
Who is teaching who
For neither parent or child
Know exactly what to do
We only think we have problems
When it's just a walk in the park
For only a few have ever known
This silence in the dark
