SILENCE

I first met you
On a winged back chair
Sitting, awaiting
The freedom, already there

I didn't know your name
Your presence was blunt
No voices to entertain
Just the fear I refused to confront

You lingered in the air
No hand was ever extended
Uninvited, you stayed
Til all reason was defended

I wanted you gone
You never, freakin' speak
You just are
Like a sink that can't stop a leak

I couldn't endure your presence
But no door to go back
I had to walk in blindness
Without a weapon in my pack

I swear, you could slay dragons
No attack could ever prevail
Against the wound of humanity
Crucified by nails

...in silence
