Silence

Silence slowly sinks in
and it begins to drown
drown me in emptiness
with only the echoes left pulling me down,

echoes of that yesterday
when you slammed the door
and I was caught on the other side
left staring at the floor.

Left in the empty rooms
rooms of sweet tomorrows I shall never see again,
and all these tomorrows are yesterdays
and bitter what should have been.

Silence slowly covers
the tears that had there fell
leaving only the stains of that moment to mark
the descent of heaven to hell.
