Sifting
I sifted through memories as I stood in the hour glass
I massaged the inner folds my mind
In this dreamy oasis, where the sun beams dance upon my back
Where the wind whispers secrets
And the birds escaped the far reaches of my grasp
The silence of this place is eternal
I inhale its loneliness and exhale my frustrations
The reflection of light bounces from this boundless glass prison
My eyes have been burned as I blindly try to hunt for my freedom
Venturing miles from where began my journey
As the sand rolls around my feet
And gathers around my neck
I am forced into a state of submission
As I helplessly reach for the sky filling my lungs with one last intake of oxygen
I heave my legs against the side of the glass
Struggling for freedom I fight for survival
Kicking and Screaming
I am frenzied, as the seconds on the timer are ticking
Because in that one lapse of time
I am reminded of a the moment of tenderness
When your voice sang glories in my ears
Moments of tenderness explode across the horizon in my mind
The sand clings to every surface of my body
The reverberating crack of my prison echoes throughout this world
Freedom is within my grasp
As I cough up miles of desert brushing off the broken glass and blood that scar
my body
My senses are overwhelmed
Residing in the singular joy that I am not the sole existence
Freedom
