Sidewalk

We walk together
On this same sidewalk
Never saying hello
We act as if we don’t know each other
That we’ve never met before
You glance at me for a moment
As I stare towards the ground

We’ll keep each others secrets
As the sidewalk splits
You go one way
I’ll go the other
But in my thoughts
You’ll always be that person I once knew
And yet the person I’ll never meet again
