Shutting Down the River

“They just shut down the river;
No boats at all allowed,”
The captain of the ferry told
A small but waiting crowd.

The General Assembly,
A huge U.N. event,
Is hosting leaders, which includes
The U.S. President.

Security’s been tightened;
The ferry now is stuck
And as for seeing river traffic,
Guess I’m out of luck.

I bet you carry a note book around!? Because you seem to tell stories of the present. In rhyme.

You are right, I am never without a little notebook (or at least some paper) and a pencil. It’s rare for me not to see something to write about. Thanks for reaching out!

Anyone wanna buy a torpedo or perhaps, an alarm clock. Another day in the life of Ilene, set down in flawless rhyme.

That's so weird, Ilene. Two minutes ago I wrote a comment to Deb imagining everyone speaking in rhyme. Thats a bit too Twilight Zone for my liking ;-)

Ha! Thank you so much, Terry! There was an old movie called “David & Lisa,” in which Lisa speaks only in rhyme. It takes place in a mental institution. I think I would fit right in!

Hey Jan! I don’t think he was on the ferry, but the U.N. Is right on the East River, so they sometimes close the river to traffic as well as the roads during the General Assembly. It’s a pain in the butt, for sure…
