Shunned

On the outskirts looking in
So much emptiness I've seen
Cast aside and left behind
I have nothing left to hide

Looking for a special niche
Acceptance being my only wish
Being shunned stabs me from within
Isolation is my only friend

Always thrown towards the curb
Feel despondent and perturbed
I have never felt included
My desires are deluded

On the outside looking in
Have to find joy from within
'Cause outside there's no connection
I rely on my own reflection

On the outskirts looking in
Storm and stress and pain I've seen
I'll find comfort somewhere else
Will have to depend upon myself
