Shopping With Mum
A trip to the market for some,
Is the reason that people look glum,
It's no longer a way
To spend a few hours a day
Going grocery shopping with Mum.
Mum always comes over *****,
Because the products are all too dear,
Cucumbers, three dollars
A costermonger hollers.
Mum protests loudly
I fear.
We have arrived at another stall,
Mum looks like she is about to fall,
She is so pale,
She looks old and frail,
She is just sick of it all.
Why are there different prices
For the same merchandise,
Mum said in her day
It wasn't that way
One price fits all suffices.
It wasn't a successful day,
As too much worry came into play,
Mum looks depleted,
I feel defeated,
It hasn't always been this way.
We decided to have some tea,
Just for Mum and me,
I said this is fun
Would you like an iced bun
In unison, we said, "and this is on me."
