" Ship In a Bottle "

Sleek ship in a bottle sits on the mantle~
Next to her a'flickers one slender candle~
Lighting her silky sails & her decks down below~
Where if she could sail would this fine ship so go~

'Tis not a question deserving of much thought~
Nor 'tis such a notion easily e'er caught~
For such as this ship shall ne'er be free~
For her bottle shall ne'er set sail to sea~

Yet what does imagination create of all this~
This ship & her bottle such seeming all bliss~
Naught but fancy & vivid wild dreams~
This ship does then sail after all it so seems~

Dreams are her seas & her winds are of chance~
Songs are her pleasure & laughter her dance~
She sails the minds o'all who have such~
A need to one dream reach out & touch~

One day I'll find on her decks I may stand~
One day on which I'll be happiest o'the land~
Fore'er after I'll sail blue seas~
I'll sing & I'll dance as oft as I please~

After all I have done & considered worthwhile~
Naught can compare with such as this trial~
For to sail such a ship as she does so sit~
Shall add to great pleazures just bit by bit~

The candle has burned very long now this night~
Sleep I must have if I'm to set all things right~
For this ship in her bottle speaks softly to me now~
Whispering of sweet dreams found at her bow~
