Shining Star

I've watched you struggle endlessly as you’ve changed your life around,
I still see the same critics continuously holding you down

Trying relentlessly to mold yourself into what others say you should be,
they never see the great person inside so caring and so free

You keep trying to please them, though your efforts are all in vain,
no matter what you do for them their opinion remains the same

So be yourself my dear for it's all God intended of you,
don't fall for their lies and deception and to yourself be true

Never doubt yourself again because of standards that others have set,
I have never seen them satisfied with anyone around them yet

You have a way to make me laugh when my day is full of strife,
You have a special gift that God has placed into your life

So the next time the critics bark their theories and try to change who you are,
hold your head high and remember you will always be my shining star!
