SHINING LIKE THE STARS

[Verse 1]
You were our happy dreams, shining like the stars,
The sparkle in our eyes, no matter where we are.
You were our destiny, like the sun in the sky,
But time keeps rolling on, and we wonder why.

[Chorus]
Nothing is set in stone, that’s the way it goes,
Life’s unexpected turns, the highs and the lows.
The Lord gives and takes, with purpose so divine,
He makes no mistakes, even as we walk this line.

[Verse 2]
Oh, how we cherish moments, each laugh and every tear,
In the dance of life, you always brought us cheer.
Though you’ve passed by now, you’re never truly gone,
In the echoes of our hearts, your memory lives on.

[Chorus]
Nothing is set in stone, that’s the way it goes,
Life’s unexpected turns, the highs and the lows.
The Lord gives and takes, with purpose so divine,
He makes no mistakes, even as we walk this line.

[Bridge]
It’s going to take some time, only God knows how long,
For Him to mend our hearts, help us stand strong.
Goodbye is never easy, but love will find a way,
In the quiet whispers, your spirit’s here to stay.

[Verse 3]
We're looking to the future, painting through the pain,
With each brush of your laughter, we can smile again.
Though shadows may linger, light will break through,
In every cherished memory, we will carry you.

[Outro]
So we hold you close, our guiding star above,
With every step forward, we’ll honor your love.
In the tapestry of life, you’re woven deep within,
In every beat of our hearts, that’s where your story begins.

I just go around to reading your poem and it struck a chord (no pun intended) with me. Losing a loved one can be a highly devastating occasion. But just as you stated in the added remarks at the bottom of your poem, you will get to be with her one day. The real joy is that 'one day' will last for eternity. Another joy I see is that while here on earth we may never meet but up there we will be put together as fellow Christians and not just poets on Poetry Soup. God Bless you!

A very tender and beautiful poem, LM... I too truly believe that we will see our lost loved ones again, we must, in one form or another...

I lost my only son almost five years ago this September, and turned to writing to help ease the pain and find some peace. It is so true that we can't ever bring our precious ones back, but we certainly will one day go to them. I have lost so much faith, but I still hold onto that. Thank you for reminding me. Peace and love to you.

This loss so great I do not know. Your journey is an inspiration... Through the losses I do know, there seems to be an inner strength we have to draw upon or we go down too. I look forward to reading how you draw upon that strength from one tragedy to snother.

In your heart and your mind's eye, you see the little girl, light of your life, hear her laugh and her footsteps of the angel watching over you.

Life is precious indeed, and once taken- sometimes our hearts truly don't understand why. I am so sorry for your loss. Finding peace within, helps to cope. In which your thoughts show that you have found it. My eyes are misty. Healing hugs sent along the wind. ~ Brandy

Lyric Man, I can relate to this poem all to well. We lost a baby of our own. Also we have lost three grandchildren through death. It is a hard time but the Lord knows and has gotten us through it all.

Hi Lyric, As I read your lyrics tears swelled up in my eyes.Out of your pain , sorrow and "Damascus Road" Your gift in writing brought peace and healing to you. I'm sure it did the same for all who heard these profound lyrics and suffered such a loss.Unfortunately many have lost a child( my mom included) and these lyrics were so comforting. I appreciate that you're sharing your story. Kudos to you because I know it's hard to do. You are such an inspirational poet please don't forget that- Alexis
