Shining Hope
Every morning the sun rises in the East
As the cool air blows through me
Feeling hopeful today will be the day
Maybe this time the glow will stay
I pursue the day like any other
Bliss swelling my heart as my damaged soul heals
Then I begin to wonder
What if the sun disappears again today?
What if the sun sets again in the West
Leaving me lifeless in the bitter darkness
Although it happens every day
I always pray today it will stay
These spiritless thoughts make me feel low
I resemble a heavy anchor
Rusting in the sea of despair
Waiting to be moved in an infant glow
The brilliant sun begins to set
Leaves rustling all around
As tears flood from my tortured eyes
All delight turns to sorrow
I look to the dark night and wonder why
Suddenly I was distracted by the beauty
The glistening moon smiling down on me
Diamonds glittering and twinkling
I have been so blinded by unnecessary misery
Beauty of the night is as joyous as day
Admiration and hilarity will fill me all the time
Next time, I'll learn to open my intact heart
