Sheriff Will Simmons

His spurs jingled as he walked down the dusty boardwalk,
His face was haggard and he weren’t in the mood for no talk.

The badge on his chest wasn’t just placed there for show,
Will Simmons was the sheriff and he had a lot of savvy and know.

He didn’t bark but once and then you was bit,
And when it came to a fight old Will didn’t know the word quit.

Leather tough and lightning quick with his gun,
Many a gun battle but he always walked out on top when the battle was done.

Five slugs hit there mark but Will was to ornery and tough.
Like I said old Will was a man not used to taking no guff.

But the job he had to do now was a tugging on his soul.
Trey was his son and he’d made outlaw’n his goal.

He’d broken the law and now he would pay,
It was up to Will to arrest him this day.

There at the bar stood Trey and he wasn’t going in without a fight.
Jail or Boot Hill the choice is yours son so best you make the one what’s right.

Paw I ain’t going to jail so we best take it outside,
As Trey reached for his gun he felt the bullet tear at his hide.

Will picked him up in his final goodbye,
First time I’d ever seen it but he broke down and he started to cry.

He took the badge from his shirt and he tossed it away,
He said trying to make an honest living I just killed my boy today.
