Shells and Rattles

With billions of opinions.
There'll always be conflicts where nobody wins.
Those islands of tranquility are steadily shrinking.
Due to a shortage of God and seas of rising greed.
Faith clinging tightly to storm-battered faith.
I'm praying for much brighter and happier days.

Goodness is made of limestone and will eventually cave.
Leaving a path of damnation in its crumbling wake.
The peacemakers fled their posts a long time ago.
Leaving behind the shells of their ghosts.

To many people, shaking selfish rattles.
Carrying banners of ID into another unholy battle.
