she was demure dainty and kind

Charlie recognized grandma's neighbor Teresa the instant she looked up. He had not seen her for ten years, but he remembered her kindnesses. When grandma passed he felt too miserable to play with her kittens. Teresa took it upon herself to look after the tiny beasts. She also talked her parents into letting her take them home. Which alleviated a huge problem for his parents who were allergic to cats. Along with her kind eyes he found a kindred spirit and a beautiful smile. Could I take you to lunch? He asked her. Teresa nodded without words. She was still demure and dainty. His heart began building dreams.
