She Is the Boss

She wanted him to fall in love with her cat, Cocoa. So he did, to please her. They got married after she was convinced. She invited him to bring a new cat home. He brought home Marshmallow. They were happy - the he, the she and their cats. Two years of pure happy. Great news! A new baby would be here in September. She suddenly decided to get rid of the cats. Cocoa and Marshmallow would have to go. She told him that he had to get rid of them. He was shocked! He had never had a pet before. But she was the boss. So he boxed them up and took them to the pound. Two hours later he heard meowing He thought it was his own imagination due to his sadness. Wrong. Marshmallow had escaped. Found her way home. He had a real struggle taking Marshmallow back to the pound. But she was the boss. That was sixteen years ago, and she still is.

I never understand why people do that; give away their pets when they have a baby. If my parent's had gotten rid of their dog when I was born, I have no doubt, as little as I was, it would've affected me. I am in spiritual harmony with animals.

I never allowed dogs to be near my grandchildren until they were four, because I did not want the dog hurt. But I kept the dog - just in another building when they came to visit.

I am so sad... I would have found homes not the pound. No one deserves the pound that has given so much... But then I am puddy... No judgment... I loved the poem. I have done things, I did not want to do as well... I don't do that any more,... EVER... I don't care who thinks they are...they are not... only GOD! have the very best day. Loved your write. Excellent sad imagery, as I felt it... Ann

I had to find a home for 16 of my dogs once because to move to my new place it is only zoned for two dogs and we had 18. That was NOT easy! But I did it.

Animals are suppose to be part of a family. Even when little ones arrive. It is sad that some people don't look at it that way and disguard their lives as nothing. It breaks my heart when I see people get rid of their pets. Their pets miss them. They wait for their return to take them home. I am glad the cat found its way home. Kudos. Glad to hear she is still there.

She actually got taken right back to the pound that day. I am glad you thought it had a happier ending though.
