She Gave Me Life

She gave me life, as does night bring Forth fright Of dark majestic, crimson skies; And all that's great and out of sight Meet within her splendid eyes: Thus capturing all that is bright Which innocence doth not denies. One ray the more, one shade the less, Had growing within her grace Which comforts the smell in every tress, Or gently washes smile o'er her face; Where love and toughness sweetly express How genuine, how pure their resting-place. And on that face, and there above that brow, So warm, so loved yet eloquent The lessons learned, the smile that glows, But remind me of days that good love went well spent; A mind content with all that lies below, A heart that loves with innocence...
