she cries in the heat

she cries in the heat
of this longest summer day
no rain to hide tears

summer rain is slow
clouds drift in like a whisper ~
a promise broken
and grief like a coming storm
with thunder the rain is here

Our tears need a place to hide in our grief and we need the storm that seems to yell at the top of its lungs.

your poem just spoke to me--the raw sadness and grief adequately expressed in just a few lines. Excellent! enjoy your evening, Sara
