She Cannot Bear Silence
Her incessant chatter is no longer listened to
Still it keeps going, loud and proud.
Her family and church do not hear; she has become white noise
Something no longer annoying even.
Her ramblings are not noticed at all.
She talks to the cans and the produce man at the grocery store.
Sharing every detail of her day; he keeps working, he knows her.
Hello Mrs. B, Mrs. T, Mrs. X, Y, Z. Did you know….
Yes, they did, or maybe they don’t want to.
They flee.
She cannot bear silence.
We all know what color her toothpaste is,
What happened to her in the bathroom on Tuesday last.
We are the newbies, so we have not drowned her out yet.
She is still a bit of a novelty.
