She Blew Me a Kiss Goodbye

She waved me off and then blew me a kiss,
As she slowly closed her door,
I remember thinking this was rather strange
For she had never blown me a kiss before!
It was the heart attack that took her life,
But at least her chest pains would be no more,
It was a neighbour checking up on her
Who had found her on the hallway floor.
She waved me off and then blew me a kiss,
As she slowly closed her door,
I remember thinking this was rather strange
For she had never blown me a kiss before!
I often wish I’d blown a kiss back to her,
As I’d driven off down the road,
For her little cottage lies empty now,
It is no longer my Mum’s abode.
She waved me off and then blew me a kiss,
As she slowly closed her door,
I remember thinking this was rather strange
For she had never blown me a kiss before!
And in my darkest imaginings
I can see tears forming in her eyes,
As she blew that final kiss to me,
Aware of her imminent demise …
