Shattered
When you’re the last one picked
For the team.
When a nightmare takes over
A dream.
When a friend commit's
Suicide.
When you witness a
Homicide.
When you get hauled off
To jail.
When you realize you created
Your hell.
When your lover hooks up with
Your friend.
When you recognize your running
Against the wind.
When you have to bury your
Mom.
Then your brother who
Survived Vietnam.
Every time you visit the grave
Of a brother or sister.
When you see your heading for
Disaster.
When someone lies and you know
The truth.
When the dentist says I have to
Pull that tooth.
When you hear you have,
Stage four cancer.
When you realize God has
No answer.
When your brother has a
Stroke.
When you realize it's not a
Joke.
When you see your child in
Pain.
When you realize you're too
Blame.
When you’re the only one who
Was plastered.
When life leaves you broken
And shattered.
