Sharing

we have shared many things

love is ultimately what I believe passes most between us

        but we also have shared
moments of anger, dislike and mistrust
times of joy, passion and admiration
          long nights and days
                   of both clarity, toxicity and
                            everything in between

we have disclosed
   intense fears, desires, hopes and
               even our whims and daydreams

                   we have matched
                         intellect and humor
                            even vanity and conceit

             we have exposed
        shame and success
    pride and humiliation
cultivated talent and offered criticism
                and have imparted both
             promises and disappointments

our tender kisses have been intermingled
      with vicious blows, both intermittent

we have in common our darkest secrets
we have only told each other
we have given each other solace and pain
and although we have both shed tears
our share of laughter has always been more abundant

                         we share
        a home, a bed, a life
                               which has taken many forms
in the years we have been together

and we now create our family each day
                              with the child we share
this is far greater than any of these other things
and I now share with you
                               my deepest gratitude
                                  for all we have
                                 in equal measure

Nice!! I love the use of white space and how you held me captive right to the end...and what a finish :) "and I now share with you my deepest gratitude for all we have in equal measure" Beautiful and heartfelt!

Dear Shayana, This is a lovely poem. What I like most is its purity. It also reflects your courage. You have said everything boldly. Thanks for your gracious comments on my poem Donot knock that has won the semi finals. -Mohammad
