I know his momma.
She aches to know where he is.
I cannot face her.

Agreed. Sometimes we don’t think we can ever forgive ourselves, though. Bottom line, I cannot fathom deliberately prolonging another human being’s torment, be it for cowardice, fear of reprisals, or whatever. It’s sadistic. But it happens.
