Shall We Dance
Shall we dance once more?
One more turn upon the dance floor
a spin, a twirl, an embrace, heart beats soar
unfurled;
twisting, turning, gliding in a waltz curled
shutting out the hectic paced world
until
only you and me are entwined
in that final thrill we find.
A slow step, fluid beauty along the floor explored
sentimental bodies with memory touch familiar chord
enamored
in that final mesmerizing trance
we, the duet in that final dance
solitary note
before the band goes home in applause
as the dream awakens from its pause.
Just one more melancholic vision
that lives in our life's complete decisions
shall we
dance the dance of the immortal and the young
when you and I held dear the songs unsung
hold on
one last turn, one last dance together
let this memory live on forever.
