Shake Off the Dust

I'm a soldier that fought in a mindless war
A love and hate battle at Mount Gilgamor

We lost sight of the love and friendship once shared
A wasteland of wreckage now beyond our repair

It's hard to pull myself out from the under the ash
But life must be lived after love's burning crash

The sun will rise on the morrow's line
But today I must grow from this difficult time

Get up! Get up! Shake off the dust!
Onward dear soldier
Go forward and trust

Though Im tempted to stay and lick my own wounds
I will do what is right and give him his room

I wipe carbon stained tears and rise in acceptance
Determined to win and let go of resentment

If this new chapter is to start off right
I must choose my battles carefully before entering the fight

I polish my armor and head for the gate
The war in this life is to choose love and not hate.
