Shake Me Awake
So shake me awake before I fall
into the slumber I know so well.
The passive decisions, the color me quick
the oh-so-struck feeling of feeling so sick.
I'm never without indecision.
I'm strengthened by ties which don't bind.
I'm called to occasion by singing and sunlight
and moments you speak to me kind.
I'll cuddle up to the right crisis
and feel my way straight through the dark
to hold up your sky when you're crying your eyes out
and ending dreams before they start.
So hold up my head as I'm sleeping tonight
and smooth back my hair with your palm.
You spend me too quickly and I'll start to dissolve
so hold onto me tightly, my dearest, my love.
