Shadow's End

Sometimes love's not enough
when ties that bind get burned
And silent hearts spend more
     than what was ever earned.
Yesterdays echo soft
     as they fade into grey,
Time's but an essence lost
     in thoughts long gone astray.
Somewhere in the distance
     there are lives that transcend
All the days yet to move
     beyond the shadow's end.
