Shadows
Shadows are all around me.
They swarm and move in ways that I can’t ignore.
My body aches as my mind sits blankly staring at moving walls.
Nothing seems real except when I hear you call.
I sit with shadows for days on end. Hoping maybe, I can be your friend.
It’s that hope that keeps me going. It’s the only thing that makes me strong.
But shadows are forever and soon I’ll be gone.
Day by day, the shadows are growing. Darkness now impending.
My loneliness is haunting, so much, I cannot bare.
Shadows are finally winning, it’s time to leave my lair.
My journey still continues, I can never stop.
It seems shadows don’t quit either, but god I pray they stop.
