Shadowed Lines
A twisting line of pavement stretches far across into the horizon
I look towards it, the dappling shadows of leaves sprinkling the gray sidewalk
As the trees bend and sway with the new wind, the flowing balance of the shadows changes
From a light, elegant form, to hurried, painfully fast, as the swirling wind pulls the branches
whipping them from side to side, the pale green leaves begin to fall
on that thin stretching line reaching too far away to see
