Shadow Tear
The girl in the corner has tears in her eyes
Nobody questions the cracks in her lies
She picks herself up and returns to the fear
That haunts in the darkness through all of the years
The shadows grow deeper around her gaunt form as she huddles deeper into her close-drawn sweater. The threadbare clothes have little effect on the insidious chill that creeps incessantly closer.
The silence around her is absent of air
A breathless space where life is rare
A name carved in stone locked up in her heart
An ice-walled kingdom kept forever apart
They hide ‘neath masks of stygian gloom, in fear of the light that has never been kind. Does anybody see the silent ghosts, bathed in shadows, as they weep their midnight tears?
