Shadow

I ran away I had to flee
Someone's running after me
He runs as fast as I can go
Yet does not catch me when I slow

When I started He was small
Now He's grown so very tall
Should I face Him, should I hide
Close my eyes His sight denied

I do not know which way to go
Reluctantly I turn to home
There He is right at my side
No fiend but friend I can confide

A comfort I have never known
Together we can stand alone.
