Shadow

Shadow

Mowing long side daddy,
 On a spring early morn,
He’s been his shadow,
Since the day he was born.
Back and forth in the lawn,
He never leaves his side.
His feet match his daddies,
Never missing a stride.
He loves to push his mower,
He loves to cut the grass,
A thrill to a little one,
But to daddy, just a task.
Oh how the pretend engine roars,
As it chops up the weeds,
Out the side flies the clippings,
The flowers and the leaves.
He could mow all day,
His feet never tire.
He’s a grown-up boy,
With his services for hire.
