Shades of Night
Twilight slides silently
into the world's fluid mind.
Shades of ebony tease the eyes,
making vision so hard to find.
Darkness blankets each land,
hiding life within its shell.
The dim glow of electric lights
wastes away within their prison cell.
Evening soothes the aching body,
lulling the human soul to sleep.
Slumber drifts into the weary heart,
bringing humans into night's dreamy keep.
Heaven's diamonds touch the earth,
bathing faces in tender light.
As the moon bows to the reign of day,
dreams worship the shades of night.
