Shades of Grey

Shades of Grey Julie Ann Saavedra 1-9-2010 I don’t like to compromise I hate the shades of gray The unrelenting shadows That never go away I wish my world was black and white And all the world around I wish I had the answers I wish I was profound If I was mathematical The answers never vary Yet I am philosophical A burden I must carry. I wonder why I wring my hands Go crazy with solutions All the while I’m mulling over Various substitutions In my cobbled dreams I’m walking A mile in your stained shoes I’ve felt your pain Have you felt mine? Do you have the right to choose? Am I too naive?, Can I really trust? The media’s flood and noise Should I slam the door? Should I open it more? Enable or destroy? As I lay awake and ponder And I face the dark of night I let the spirit guide me I will follow towards the light This world is never perfect Nor are the shades of grey But I believe it’s beautiful To see the world my way
