Shabby Ol Shoes
Shabby old Shoes
Who would want to walk in my shoes?
They are ragged shabby and worn
I have walked life’s road in these shoes
And their travels have left them torn.
You have heard the expression many times
About walking a mile in my shoes?
Will I am here to let you know
If you tried you would have them removed
I need a new pair of shoes
Some not so ragged and torn
From walking the road of life
They’ve been on since I was born
I need a new road to follow
One without so many rough spots
That cause me so much heartache
That I just have to stop.
I would like to see some greener grass
And some sunshine on a field of clover
Instead of all the thunder clouds
Pouring rain and doubts all over
Who would like to walk in my shoes?
There is not a single soul
I have walked life’s road in these shoes
And the road has made them old.
But when I get a new pair of shoes
That lead down a different road
I will take off my shabby old shoes
And walk with love on streets of gold.
