Seven Dreaming Bottles

Seven dreaming bottles of scarlet slept
And within glass walls my secrets kept;
Fed with the lifeblood of earth and vine,
Nourished the dreams of me and mine.

Seven dreaming bottles stood proud and tall,
Maturing with age upon the wall;
And days fell away under yearly tread,
And the years became decades that swiftly fled.

Seven dreaming bottles in crimson repose
Gleamed red as the reddest imaginable rose;
And in biding, my dreams became one with the wine,
Polished and perfect, complex and refined.

Seven dreaming bottles poured one after one,
Into the drain in the weak winter sun;
For dreams, in reality, may become foiled
And just like a wine, end up corked and spoiled.
