Setting Moon
I'm not bitter, but I'm broken,
In a bad dream and can't be woken,
My breaths are shallow 'cause I'm chokin'
On the words we left unspoken.
A guilty charge, I took the blame,
I've walked around with so much shame,
To you, our promises became
As forgotten as my name.
Uninspired without my muse,
I admit my wrongs, but you refuse,
Well, what was I supposed to choose,
When either way, I'm bound to lose?
You struck me with a blunt assault,
I'm the slug, and you're the salt.
So now I'm locked up in my vault,
And left to sop up all the fault.
Is this the way you thought I'd learn?
One day you're there, the next you turn.
Your bridge ain't one I want to burn.
But we're past the point of no return.
When you see I'm not all wrong,
And try to come where you belong,
I'll be here singing this song,
And you've already took too long.
The story ends with no regret,
Best friend, soul mate, don't forget
I shed my tears, and blood and sweat,
But it's time for the moon to set.
