Set Me Free

Oh Lord, Set me free. Set me free. Help me to forget, to stop this regret. Help me not to look, not to look at his face, that makes me long long to hear his song. Oh Lord, Set me free. Set me free. Help me to let go, not to love him so. Help me stop thinking, stop thinking of that man, wake up and see he's forgotten me. Oh Lord, Set me free. Set me free. Help me who fell hard for the gentle bard, Help me stop hearing, stop hearing his poetry and his guitar that made him my star. Oh Lord, Set me free. Set me free. Set me free. Oh Lord, Set me free. To be freed, means that you start to forget, and who wants to forget memories and loves and sacred hearts. Live on remembering my friend. Strong, powerful poem - loved it! Poetry wishes, Jennifer

NO, you cannot be freed, only absorbing will grant relief. Had to say that in response to the emphatic and poetic repetition in your write that demands an answer. Being a bit playful. To say I can relate to this poem would be an understatement, and I'm sure most humans have likewise implored for their heart pain to be released so this has universal appeal. Feel, longing and a bruised heart jump from each line, begging to be sedated. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Thank you, CayCay. It helps to know I'm not alone in these feelings. I am getting better though as I realize some of my fantasies actually became realities to me...for a while....a long while. Hugs back....Carole

Love sometimes holds us prisoners of emotion and your sad refrain echoes that sentiment..
