Serenade of Deception
My fantasy tainted
with a false sense of reality
He robbed my ecstasy
with hypnotic mockery
Empty praise was his sirens melody
He knew.
To my loneliness
the deceitful remedy
His tongue glid too fluid
It glossed over my doubts
His eyes’ endless smirk
As he cunningly planned about
His deceptive hymns
bent my heart to his will
His delectable speech, saccharine
Was filled with such toxic thrill
He knew.
my heart intoxicated each time his voice rang
He covered my sight.
without using his hands
Perhaps I’m just as guilty
I wanted his heart confined
For his meaningless consolation
Was my sanctuary divine
I am not blameless, I sought his embrace
Desperation had made me a hopeless case
Though aware of his ploy
My heart, miserably, failed to avoid
I played his losing game
To try and lock him in my void
His sinister voice was to blame
As the longing look in his eyes
No matter the truth.
No matter the lie.
Deep down I knew
In
the
tangled
web we wove
truth
and
illusion
intertwined.
