Notes About The Poem

September Winds

September winds carry the echoes of ancient songs,
When air was sweet with the scent of earth
And we placed our wishes upon the willow's roots,
Weeping then as echoes drowned in the noise of throngs,
When cares of life displaced the child’s mirth
And left us crushed by war's tough boots.

It sounds like you knew some times of war in September? Though I was unsure of the complete meaning of your thoughtful poem, I just really loved the feel and sound of it in my mind. Congratulations

Your poem has a beautiful, nostalgic quality. The imagery of "ancient songs" and "willow's roots" creates a striking contrast with the harsh reality of war.
