Separation
The silence settles where your voice once stayed,
A quiet peace replaces every storm.
It’s for the best that we let shadows fade.
We tried to mend the jagged mess we made,
But hollow hearts can never keep us warm;
The silence settles where your voice once stayed.
Two weary souls, too tired to be afraid,
No longer bound to play a broken form;
It’s for the best that we let shadows fade.
The bitter debts of love are finally paid,
And newer paths begin to take the norm;
The silence settles where your voice once stayed.
No more the sharp and stinging words displayed,
We leave the wreck to find a safe platform:
It’s for the best that we let shadows fade.
Our separate lives are honestly portrayed,
A kinder truth than any false reform.
The silence settles where your voice once stayed:
It’s for the best that we let shadows fade.
