Senselessness
If I could control what I smell
I wouldn’t know the stench of poverty
Where many people dwell.
If I could control what I taste
I would not ingest any processed products
That we often, casually waste.
If I could control what I feel
I would avoid the slings and arrows
That won’t allow me to heal.
If I could control what I hear
I would not listen to the lies
That hurt the ones I love so dear.
If I could control my sight
I would block out the pain and suffering
Inflicted under the guise of what is right.
