Notes About The Poem

Another poem from childhood.

Listen to poem:

Sensationalism Or Journalism

(Another childhood or teen years poem.)

Newsprint small talk
in Mediocrity's lead pot
rustles and gossips while,
splashed spectacularly across
the speckled page of
Society's intellect,
a murder making column one
hides the hushed massacre
of minds.

A journalist is crowding into your scene here. Wouldn't it be good if good news would sell. I like it.

Love the last part the best---but this was a remarkable one altogether. Lovely--thanks for this! Keep up the outstanding verses! Always, Laura

Brilliant, Like it Leo, Sensationalism supersedes and is the basis of Journalism is it not, For truth is often a sacrificed to sell a story is it not

"speckled page of society's intellect" Cool. And the murder in column one makes for a perfect strawman for society's scapegoat. cool poem. I wish I had kept alot of my early poems just so that now I could judge whether they were worth keeping or not. This is a poem both of current events at the time and prophecy. I like it Leo and thanks for the constructive advice. I fixed 'er up some . :) but cna't emphasize enough that the book and Author was the reason for the poem. Bob
