Selkie

We saw that Selkie onshore
On a fateful summer’s day
Only the strength of my love
Saved him from eyes of grey.
As the time from that meeting
Grew steadily ever longer
I could sense her influence
Growing stronger and stronger

Until on that same shore
His senses under attack
He walked into dark water
Not even a half glance back
The magic of those eyes
Finally luring him away
Those strong hypnotic eyes
Of powerful deepest grey.

I lost my love to a Selkie
Aware already it was too late
Just one glance of those eyes
Making it our inevitable fate
No haunting siren song
That took my love away
Just an ever growing lure of
Those powerful eyes of grey.
