Self Portrait

Self Portrait If my picture hung on the wall, I’d wonder what you’d see. Would the brush lines show? A truer side of me. Would the winkles in my face? Give away my age. Or the slightest hint of gray? Show up on the page. Would the fire that burns inside? Show up through my eyes. Or would my smile give away? The passion that simply hides. Would the frame box me in? Controlling what you see. Would I be represented? The way I’d wanted to be. Would you hang me in the light? To show off all my flaws. Or hang me in a darken room? To brighten up the walls. Either way, I don’t care, For I don’t plan to see. For no picture could contain, The real side of me.

A nice write, with a nice flow to it. It's always intrigued me as to how we're seen by others and if it's accurate or not! I enjoyed reading your poetry today. Best wishes Em :)
